No Planning for Renewable Energy

On Wednesday 13th April at the FoE FNQ meeting, guest speaker Steven Nowakowski, a nature photographer and publisher based in Kuranda, talked about the lack of planning for renewable energy projects on the Atherton Tablelands.

'Whilst we must move away from coal and all fossil fuels as a matter of urgency, I have uncovered there are no policies nor safeguards to protect biodiversity as we transition to a carbon-free world.' Steven showcased some recent examples of industrial renewable projects on the Atherton Tablelands and what is planned and what we can do to protect what is left.

Ask the Federal Minster for the Environment & Water, Tanya Plibersek and the Minister for Climate Change & Energy Chris Bowen how they plan to mitigate climate change while protecting our forests, wildlife and cultural heritage.
